4 Paws Kingdom Trip

The pups did well on the trip to 4 Paws Kingdom in North Carolina. They all fit in the Tahoe amazingly...lol...we put most of our luggage in the back of Josh's (my brother) truck, otherwise we would have had to get one of those totes that go ontop of your vehicle..lol...The dogs did well on the trip, we stopped every two hours, so it turned into about 10 to 11 hr drive all together.

Griffin & Kane got along great with all the other pups....Trinity didn't like new pups entering "her dogpark" so I had to put her on leash until they met, and after that she was fine. Harley was great, except for one incident, there was a little australian male pup, about his age, and Harley kept humping/dominating him, so we had to put him on leash once. All in all, everything went well.

We stayed in the cabin and it was $69 a night, didn't think that was to bad, they also had air conditioning, so we were thankful for that. So far noone has come down with any sickness, I am crossing my fingers that continues. As far as the cleanliness of the campgrounds...it was super clean except for the pond, but I don't think they want to put any chemicals in it. It was great for the dogs, but not really for humans. They had 7 dogparks, 16 acres of hiking trails, dog bath house, pavillion with wifi access...and everyone was sooooo nice. I will deffinatly go back.

The owner told me that there was 56 dogs there, but it really wasn't crowded. I don't know if allot of people stayed in the ac because of the heat, or if the place is just so big that it didn't seem crowded. It was very nice though, and a great experience for the pups.

New Member to the Family

Hey everyone, Jason and I have some new news to pass on to everyone. Jason has always had a love for Olde English Bulldogs. Jason has wanted one since childhood, but never had the right oppurtunity to own one. When we were at the Pet Expo we saw one and he just fell in love with it. All the way home for Virginia to Ohio, he talked about how he would love to have a bulldog. So when we got home he started searching on the net and talking to breeders and found a little boy he just fell in love with. So Friday night we drove to Fort Wayne, IN to meet the breeder and brought our new member home.
He has cute as can be and all the other puppers just seem to love him. Trinity took to him right away, Kane likes him almost to much to where when he trys to play, sometimes he is to rough, but is learning. Griffin to a little longer than the other two to warm up, but now he is really accepting him as a part of the family. Cheeto even seems to tolerate him real well....lol. ...

Pet Expo

I have been so busy I haven't yet posted about our fun trip to Maryland and Virginia, March 19-22. Wednesday we headed off to Maryland and visited with Alex, John, and the kids for a few days. Took Trinity to Alex's wonderful vet to get some tests ran. Then Friday off to Chantilly to the Pet Expo.
It was a great experience at the Pet Expo. We met allot of people and got allot of great stuff for the puppers. Trinity had lots of fun, but after all said and done, she was ready to go home. She had a very big and exhausting weekend. It was so great to see Lisa, Charlie, kids, Alex, John, their kids, and Vicky & her hubby. Also to meet Jessica, Backy, and all the other wonderful people we met.
We are planning to head out again next year for another funfilled journey.

Found a Forever Home

I was traveling to work from home after taking care of the pups on lunch break and I saw this poor inocent dog running along a four lane hwy. I pulled over and she jumped right in with me. I took her to work with me, feed and watered her, and she slept most of the day. I have called around to the shelters, humane society, and vets and noone has called in saying they lost their dog. She is the sweetest dog ever, she won the heart of anyone that came in contact with her.
I took her to the vet, got her vet checked and up to date on her vaccines. My brother and I really fell hard for her. I would love to have her, but I already have three in the house and Josh would love to have her as well, but wasn't sure how his fiance's dogs would get along with her, and she is moving in with him this summer.
I called the vets first thing this morning to inform them that I would be there to pick her up today, and they said that one of the workers there totally fell in love with her. So I asked to speak to her.
She is a senior in highschool, she lives with her Dad out in the country, she has a fenced in yard, she works at the vet part time on a work program for school. She explained to me how her dog just passed last week and that this precious girl that I found reminded her of her dog that she lost. She went on about telling me how she would be able to go indoors and outdoors as she pleases. She sounds like just a perfect home. So at 11:15 a.m. today the precious angel that I found went to her new home.

The Big Storm

We got home from the Michigan trip and there was drifts of snow everywhere and almost white out conditions. We were so fortunate to have gotten home safe. The pups were safe and horses we safe. We were under a blizzard warning and under a level 3 condition and told to stay inside and could get arrested if traveling the roads. All in all everything turned out well with us and everyone is happy and healthy.

Michigan Trip

We took a trip to Michigan with our family and had lots of fun. We missed the pups terribly, but they had a wonderful sitter while we were gone. We traveled to Michigan to go snowmobiling. We went around 300 miles total and had no major breakdowns or issues.

We got a call late the night before we left (Monday) from my cousin and he said that there was bad weather heading to Ohio. The news was saying that it was a possible blizzard. The were calling for 10-16 inches of snow and 30 mph winds. So Tuesday morning we heading out at 6 a.m. for a 8 hr drive home. We got about 1 1/2 from home and the roads starting getting really bad. We about lost it a few times, so Jason slowed down to about 45 mph on the main highway. We were traveling at that speed for no more than 15 min and everyone ahead of us starting hitting there brakes. Then we were at a dead stop.
We waited in traffic for 2 hours and found out when we got to the scene of the accident it consisted of a jack knifed cemi that came from the northbound lane to the southbound lane and a car that broke the guardrail and went over the bridge. So the northbound and southbound traffic was at a deadstop. I really hope everyone made it out of the accident ok.

Its been a while since I have given an update. On Dec. 18th was Griffins birthday, we threw a party for him on Dec. 16th with all his pupper friends. He got lots of yummy treats and cake. I just can't believe he is two already.
Trinity is doing wonderful. She has proven to us that she can run the house now and not get into anything, so now she is running with Griffin. She is maturing so quickly.

Kane on the otherhand is doing wonderful as far as his health, but we found out he is the chewer of the family. Of course we feel horrible leaving him in the kennel while the other two get the run of the house, so we placed kongs, toys, and chewys all over the house, put sheets on the end tables and coffee table, and turn Animal Planet on when we leave. So far that has worked for him, so we hope the progress only gets better.

Cheeto got an allergy test done, we are still awaiting the results. Soon I have a feeling we will have to be totally changing his diet. His allergies are so bad he is making his skin bleed by pulling his hair out. And we just can't keep giving him steroid shots all the time to make the itching stop, its just not healthy.

Christmas was a bit of a let down, we had planned to go to Michigan snowmobiling and there is no snow to speak of. Since we had made all of our Christmas gatherings before Christmas, in hopes we would head up north, we had noone to spend Christmas with. But we had a funfilled day with the puppers.

New Years was nice, we had a cookout at our place and had some of our friends over, the dogs just behaved wonderfully, they picked their favorite person and stuck with them the whole night...lol Then Jan 2nd, back to work for us.

All in all everything is going wonderfully!!!

Griffin Update

Griffin ended up having sugery to get the bump removed. It ended up being a benign tumor. I was so relieved after hearing the results of the biopsy. He is doing great now, the stitches have almost all dissapeared.
This saturday he has a visit to the nursing home, they are throwing a surprise birthday party for him, since his birthday is Dec 18th. I am making scooby doo cupcakes for everyone to enjoy, so we will have lots to look forward too.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!

Griffins mysterious bump

I have some sad news about Griffin. About three weeks ago I noticed a bump on his foot. I had the vet check it out and they thought it was just a zit. They told me to keep an eye on it and if it was still there in a couple weeks to call back and they would check it out again. Well it hasn't dissapeared and its getting bigger. I called the vet and they came to the conclusion that its a tumor. He is scheduled for surgery on the 28th to get it taken off. They said that they don't think that its cancerous, but there is no guarantee. They are going to get it send into the main lab for further testing. Hope for the best for our baby boy.

Update on the pupkids

Thought I would update everyone on how all the pupkids are doing. Trinity is getting very mature, she is turning into a beautiful young lady. She is a breathtaking steel blue color and has just the best personality. Her and Kane are connected at the hip, although lately she has been starting to warm up to Griffin. She is such a lover, she loves to snuggle and give kisses, oh and loves to be rubbed on her belly for any amount of time. She would lay there all day if we allowed...lol...Her recent weigh in was 107 lbs and almost 30 inches at the shoulder.

Kane is as layed back as ever, and very handsome. He has an awesome personality and so well behaved. He loves to run around with as many toys as he can fit in his mouth and show them off to whomever is around at that moment. He is getting very good with strangers that come to the house. He used to hide behind me and growl, but now as long as I give him the ok, then he knows that the person means no harm. He just loves Trinity to pieces and wants to be anywhere that she is, I don't know what they would do without each other. His recent weigh in is 147 lbs and 35 inches at the shoulder.

Griffin is now coming to work with me every Saturday and to the nursing home every Thursday. He is a registered Therapy Dog and just loves his job. He has an awesome personality, one to whom you can sit down and feel like you are having a conversation with. He wins the heart of many people doing what he does. He is always excited to go on rides and meet new people. His recent weigh in is 118 lbs and 34 inches at the shoulder.

We just love our puppers, they are the joy of our life, I don't know what I would do without them.

Pray for Nicki

We had a terrible mishap yesterday at our farm. While Jason and I were at work, my quarter horse "Nicki" got caught up in the hay elevator, that we had butted right up to the back of the barn, and gashed herself up in many places and laid her chest/belly area wide open.

Jason went to feed them there supper last night and came into the house, and said "you have to call the vet, Nicki is hurt" I instantly called the vet and told them what Jason had told me and I was second in the list on emergency call. We called the vet around 5:30 and they showed up at 7:00. Two vets ended up coming out. They sedated her, cleaned up all he wounds, gave her a tetanus, antibiotic, and pan killer. The vet said that she has already got infection, it is a deep, long, wide gash. He was unable to stitch, since the skin was already dead and infection already begun. So he sterilized the cut, removed all the dead skin, and crimped (maybe not correct word use) the veins off so she would stop bleeding since they wasn't able to stitch her wound. She is one 6400 mg antibiotics twice a day and 1 mg of butte twice a day. I am so worried for my baby. Please everyone say a prayer for her in hopes she will be strong and get through this

Wonderful Weekend

Jason and I had a wonderful weekend. My brother and his girlfriend Stephanie came to visit. The four of us went out to eat saturday night and watched the BIG Ohio State vs Texas game. Buckeyes WON!!! Yipeee!!!! I attempted to make Buckeyes for us all to eat. They were pretty tasty, but weren't the prettiest looking...lol....Then sunday morning when we all woke up my brother Josh and I made everyone a yummy breakfast and lots of coffee.

Jason and I are both so happy to have met Steph she is so nice and her and my brother Josh make such a wonderful couple. I am so happy for them both and to see such smiles on their faces when they are together.

Snickers

I just wanted to give everyone an update on Snickers situation. Snickers is a rescue cat Jason and I have had as a member of our family for about 3 years now. We just love her to pieces, but ever since we have welcomed Kane and Trinity into our family, she has been stressed out to the max. She is afraid to come downstairs, she starves for attention, and just not a healthy environment for her. Jason and I have talked over and over about what would be the best for Snickers. Jason and I would hate to see her go, but don't think its fair to keep in her that type of stressful enviroment being 7 years old either.

Grandma and I went to a nursing home visit with Griffin yesterday and an idea just struck me right across the face. My Grandma is like my Mom to me, her and I are VERY close. She is fighting cancer and also taking care of my uncle, who is slow. So she has a VERY stressful life. My Grandma used to have a cat, when my Dad was little and she talks about that cat (Kathy) all the time. So I talked to Grandma about Snickers situation and offered Snickers to Grandma. She had told me that she would love to have her, but afraid what Grandpa might say.

Yesterday afternoon Grandma went home and nothing but 1 hr later she calls me up in high spirits and says that Grandpa says that she can welcome Snickers into their family. She immediatly had a pen and paper to write down all the items needed for Snickers to feel at home with them and off to the petstore she went. I have never seen my Grandma so happy in such a long time. I am heartbroke that Snickers will be leaving us, but at the same time, so happy to see such a smile on Grandma's face. She is already talking about making her a special bed and making toys for her with catnip. Grandma will be over tonight to pick Snickers up.

I just wanted to pass this short story along about Snickers, our loving little furbaby.
